What is Hydrazine Hydrate 80%?
Oxygen scavengers remove the dissolved oxygen left after the deaerator; oxygen in hot boiler water causes pitting corrosion of tubes, drums and feed lines.
Hydrazine reacts with oxygen without adding dissolved solids to the boiler water, which suits high pressure boilers. It is toxic and must be handled with strict precautions, which is why many plants now use carbohydrazide or DEHA instead.
