What is Boiler and Cooling System Descalants?
Scale insulates heat transfer surfaces, wastes fuel and power and can cause tube overheating. Acid cleaning dissolves it, but acids also attack the metal, so an acid corrosion inhibitor is added to protect steel and copper during cleaning.
Common descaling acids include hydrochloric, sulphamic and citric acid, chosen by the type of scale and metal.
