Cleaners for every stage of stone care: pH-neutral daily cleaners for marble and polished stone (Neugel, Algafloor, Mild Stone Cleaner Plus, Faber Soap), alkaline heavy-duty cleaners and strippers for grease, old wax and old sealers (Faber 30, Cottosolv, Decera/P, Dec 21), acid cleaners for cement residue after installation (Deterfug, Disycott; not for marble), Epoxy Residue Remover for grout haze, and No Oil and Faber Poultice for deep oil stains.

How to clean marble and natural stone the right way
Most damage to marble floors comes from the wrong cleaner, not from dirt. Acidic bathroom cleaners, vinegar, lemon and undiluted phenyl etch and dull polished marble. Use a pH-neutral cleaner for daily mopping, a stronger cleaner or stripper only for deep cleaning, and an acid cleaner only on acid-resistant surfaces.
Daily cleaning: the professional method
- Dry-dust first. Remove grit with a dry microfibre mop; grit under a wet mop scratches polished stone.
- Dilute correctly. Follow the label dilution. Over-dosing leaves residue, not extra cleanliness.
- Mop in overlapping passes with a well-wrung mop. Standing water can seep into joints.
- Rinse in hard-water areas. A clean-water pass prevents a grey mineral film.
- Dry high-traffic areas with a clean mop to restore clarity and reduce slipping.

Removing a deep oil stain
- Blot up any fresh spill; do not wipe it wider.
- Mix Faber Poultice with a Faber stain remover such as No Oil into a thick paste.
- Spread it over the stain, slightly wider than the mark, and let it work as it dries so it draws the oil out.
- Remove the dry paste, rinse, and repeat on old or deep stains.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best cleaner for marble floors?
A pH-neutral concentrate such as Neugel, Algafloor or Faber Soap, diluted as on the label. One litre of concentrate does 900 to 1,100 m² of washing.
Can I clean marble with vinegar, lemon or phenyl?
No. Vinegar, lemon and acidic bathroom cleaners etch marble, and undiluted phenyl or bleach dulls the polish. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
How do I remove cement and grout residue after tiling?
On acid-resistant tiles and stone, use Disycott (1:2 to 1:4) or Deterfug. Do not use acid cleaners on marble or limestone; ask us for the right product for those.
How do I strip old wax from a stone floor?
Use Decera/P (from 50% to 1:9 depending on the build-up), Dec 21 (ready to use) or Cottosolv, then rinse well before applying a new treatment.
How do I remove an oil stain from marble or granite?
Make a paste of Faber Poultice with a Faber stain remover such as No Oil, spread it over the stain, let it dry so it draws the oil out, then remove it. Repeat for deep stains.
