Stone care buying guide: marble, granite, Kota and more
Natural stone lasts for generations if it is cleaned with the right product and sealed once in a while, and it can be ruined in minutes by the wrong one. This range brings together Faber (Italy) professional stone care, Flagstone Fix fillers and sealers, and Vetro Power nano protection. Start by knowing your stone, then pick products by the job you need done.
Step 1: know your stone
- Marble, limestone, Kota and travertine are calcium-based (calcareous). Acids such as lemon, vinegar and toilet cleaners etch them, leaving dull marks. Use only pH-neutral or alkaline cleaners, and polish them with crystallisers made for marble.
- Granite, sandstone and quartzite are silica-based. They resist acids better, but are still porous and absorb oil and stains unless sealed. Granite needs polishing products made for granite.
- Porcelain, ceramic tiles and quartz (agglomerate) are dense and low-absorbing; most problems are grout haze, epoxy residue and slipperiness.
Step 2: pick products by the job
| Job | Products | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Daily cleaning | Neugel, Algafloor, Mild Stone Cleaner Plus | pH-neutral, safe for marble and sealed stone |
| Deep cleaning and degreasing | Faber 30, Deterfug | Faber 30 is alkaline for stubborn dirt; Deterfug is slightly acidic for cement and lime residue on acid-resistant surfaces, not marble |
| Stripping old wax and coatings | Cottosolv, Decera/P, Dec 21 | Use before re-sealing or re-polishing |
| Removing epoxy grout haze | Epoxy Residue Remover | For tiles after epoxy grouting |

The right order for a new or restored floor
- Clean off dirt, grout haze and old wax with a deep cleaner or stripper.
- Repair cracks and open joints with a filler, then polish if the surface needs it.
- Let the stone dry completely before sealing; moisture trapped under a sealer causes patches.
- Seal with an impregnating sealer (natural look) or a colour enhancer (wet look).
- Maintain with a pH-neutral daily cleaner, and top up gloss with a maintenance polish.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best cleaner for marble floors?
A pH-neutral stone cleaner such as Neugel, Algafloor or Mild Stone Cleaner Plus. Never use vinegar, lemon or acidic bathroom cleaners on marble, because acids etch the surface.
How do I make dull marble shine again?
Clean it, then polish with a marble crystalliser such as Cristalfab, FK2 or Buff N Shine, or a polishing powder like A3 Yellow. For deep scratches or etch marks, the floor may need professional grinding first.
How do I polish granite?
Use a polishing product made for granite, such as Star Shine polishing cream, on a clean, dry surface. Marble crystallisers are not designed for granite.
Do I need to seal granite and marble?
Yes. Both are porous and absorb water, oil and stains. An impregnating sealer such as Hidro Protector MM, Hidro SST or B1 700 protects without changing the look; a colour enhancer such as MA 90 also deepens the colour.
How do I remove oil stains from stone?
Use Faber Poultice mixed with a Faber stain remover to make a paste, apply it over the stain and let it draw the stain out as it dries. Repeat for deep stains.
How do I remove epoxy grout haze from tiles?
Use Epoxy Residue Remover, a ready-to-use alkaline cleaner made for removing epoxy grout residue from tiles.
Which product makes a stone floor less slippery?
YS One is a water-based anti-slip treatment for ceramic, porcelain stoneware, quartz and granite.
Do you help with large stone projects?
Yes. Architects, contractors and stone polishers can WhatsApp +91 98333 22685 with the stone type and problem, and we will suggest products and quantities.
