Polyelectrolyte Flocculants & Coagulants

Anionic polyelectrolyte is a negatively charged polyacrylamide flocculant used with a coagulant such as PAC or alum to form large, fast-settling flocs in raw water, process water and effluent.

Powder and emulsion
How it is applied
Dissolved to a dilute solution and dosed after the coagulant

What is Anionic Polyelectrolyte?

In clarification, a coagulant such as PAC or alum first neutralises the charge on fine particles, forming tiny pin flocs. An anionic polyelectrolyte then bridges those pin flocs into large, heavy flocs that settle quickly in a clarifier or tube settler.

Anionic grades suit mineral and inorganic solids and are widely used in raw water and primary effluent treatment.

Where Anionic Polyelectrolyte is used

  • Raw water clarification with PAC or alum
  • Primary treatment in ETPs
  • Clarifiers and tube settlers
  • Mineral, sand washing and mining water

How to use Anionic Polyelectrolyte

  1. Dose the coagulant first with rapid mixing.
  2. Make up a dilute polyelectrolyte solution and let it age.
  3. Dose the polyelectrolyte after the coagulant, with slow, gentle mixing to grow the flocs.
  4. Jar test to find the best combination and dose.

Frequently asked questions

Can anionic polyelectrolyte be used alone?

It is usually used after a coagulant such as PAC or alum. On its own it bridges particles that have already been coagulated, rather than neutralising their charge.

How much anionic polyelectrolyte is needed?

Doses are usually small and depend on the water; a jar test is the reliable way to set the dose.

Do you publish prices for Anionic Polyelectrolyte?

Prices depend on the grade, pack size and quantity, so we quote on request. Send your requirement on WhatsApp at +91 98333 22685 or through the form on this page.
